1. recipe: Peas or beans

Grinding the spices in a mortar Cook the peas or beans, wash them in a sieve. Add leeks, koriander and mallow blossoms. While this is cooking, grind Pepper, levisticum officinale KOCH (couldn't find the english name so here is the botanical latin name), Oregano, and fennel seeds. Then moisten the mixture with LIQUAMEN and wine. Finally add it to the peas or beas in the pot. Bring to the boil and stirr. Pour oil of the best quality over it and serve.

2. recipe: How to cook a chicken

Open the chicken at the back and spread it on a board. Crush Pepper, Levisticum officinale KOCH and some cumin (CAREUM), moisten this with LIQUAMEN and mix it with wine. Put the chicken in a pot (CUMANA) and pour the sauce over it. Desolve some fresh LASEN in luke warm water, pour it over the chicken and let it stew. Sprinkle pepper over it and serve.

3. recipe: LIQUAMEN (the way we did it)

The anchoves were chopped fine and put in a bowl. Then we added a lot of spices and red wine. The ingredients were mixed together.

4. recipe: lamb

Cut the meat into pieces. Then dice the onions. Arrange the meat and onions in layers in the pot. Pour the fish on top on it. Put it in the oven for about 2 hours.

5. recipe: pancakes


20 eggs have to be scrambled in a bowl. Add half a cup of oil and 2 pts of milk. Mix the ingredients and take spoonfulls and fry in small amounts. Afterwards spread some honey over the pancakes.

The Romans had water with their meals.
